Carlos and Alisha Thomas Searcy, affectionately known as “Los and Lisha,” have dedicated their lives to public service. Carlos, a retired state trooper, served for 26 years with the Georgia State Patrol and 8 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. Alisha, Cobb County’s first African American elected to the Georgia House of Representatives, served the South Cobb area for 12 years and is a former school superintendent. She currently serves as the Southern Regional President for Education Reform Now and Democrats for Education Reform.
Partners in life and leadership, Los and Lisha envisioned the foundation to continue serving the community, invest in young people, and create a legacy for their family. Their own educational journeys—Carlos as a non-traditional student and Alisha as a traditional student—highlight the transformative power of education. Together, they reside in Marietta, Georgia, with their blended family of five, co-lead their church's Social Action Committee, and co-own Yardshow ATL, a local yard card business.
